Jane is a 67-year-old woman. She comes to your clinic complaining of chronic angina which presents daily over the past week. Her total cholesterol level is 202 mg/dl and she has a BMI of 32. She walks 45 minutes, 4 days per week during her lunch break. How many risk factors for CVD does she have? a. Two b. Three c. Four d. Five 7. Suppose that you are a fitness consultant at a local gym. Your boss calls you into her office and tells you that the test you normally use to assess upper-body strength is not valid. This means: a. The test can’t be replicated by another consultant b. The test costs too much c. The test is too complicated for a small business d. The test doesn’t actually measure upper-body strength
Exam 1: KHP 445 2 8. Jessica is a 23 year-old casual smoker who has a BMI of 23. Her mother suffered a heart attack at the age of 42. Jessica walks on the treadmill for 30 minutes, 5 days a week. She recently started experiencing unusual dizziness with her normal activities and often feels short of breath. How many signs/symptoms of CVD does she have? a. One b. Two c. Three d. Four 9. An older adult should have physician approval before engaging in any of the Older Adult Physical Fitness Tests if they have: a. Been told previously by a doctor not to exercise because of medical conditions b. Experienced congestive heart failure, dizziness, chest pain, or exertional angina during exercise c. Uncontrolled hypertension d. All of the above 10. Suppose that I provide you with feedback on your classroom performance all throughout the semester. This would be an example of which type of evaluation? a. Continuous b. Criterion c. Summative d. Formative 11. A test is objective when several criteria are met. Which of the following is NOT one of those criteria? a. Clear instructions are given b. Testers are trained c. Results are presented in words d. Procedures are simple 12. Which of the following correlation coefficients represents the strongest relationship? a. -0.87 b. 0.30 c. -0.10 d. 0.79 13. Interpret the strength and direction of the correlation below: a. Weak, negative correlation b. Strong, negative correlation c. Strong, positive correlation d. No relationship between the two variables
Exam 1: KHP 445 3 SHORT ANSWER SECTION (Total of 31 points). Please type your answers for each question directly below the question. Please highlight (in yellow) your responses. 1. Measurement and evaluation have six main functions. List , describe, and provide an example for THREE of these six functions. You must use different examples than those that I provided in the PowerPoint or audio lecture- you will not receive credit for using the same examples that I provided. (6 points) Feasibility o Assessing the practically required for conducting assessments effectively Ex. Administration of run test, like a 1-mile run Objectivity o The degree of a measurement process. Ex. use of wearable fitness trackers, like an Apple watch Reliability o The consistency of results. Ex.A test-retest study 2. Choose one of the tests that you did from Practical Assignment #2 that is intended for the older adult population. For that test, discuss the reliability specifically answering: Is it a reliable test? Why or why not? (6 points) Test: Chair Stand Test Reliability: This test is a reliable way of testing lower body strength. With proper measures, this can be even more reliable due to the consistency of measures. The procedures tend to remain consistent, and the results follow. 3. If you had to assess physical activity in the future with a client or patient, which measure of the four measures used to assess physical activity that were covered in the “Assessing Physical Activity” lecture would you prefer to use? Please talk about the feasibility, objectivity, burden level, limitations, and advantages for full credit. (6 points) If I were to assess physical activity in the future I would choose recall questionnaires as a measure to assess my patient’s physical activity. Feasibility: feasible to administer due to the fact that you're just collecting information through self-reporting, which is very inexpensive. Objectivity: Objectivity relies on the patient’s interpretation, honesty, and memory due to self-reporting. Burden level: The burden level depends on the complexity of the questionnaire. Limitations: patients may have difficulty interpreting the questions or recalling the events asked on the questionnaire. There could also be a bias limitation. Advantages: recall questionnaires are cost-effective and easy to participate in. For question 4, you will use the Excel sheet entitled, “GPA and hours studied mock data_Exam_5-27-22” which is located within the Exam Assignment on Canvas.

Exam 1: KHP 445 4 Part A. Please calculate the mean, median, and mode for both variables (both for GPA and for hours studied). You will also need to calculate the correlation coefficient for the two variables. (Use all directions provided in the Correlations PowerPoint with my audio to guide you with completing #4). Please submit your completed Excel sheet separately from your exam under the “Exam” Assignment on Canvas. Not including the Excel sheet, even if the answers are correct for #4, will result in a loss of 5 points. Please include the answers on both the table below, as well as on the attached Excel sheet. (Each cell in the table for Mean, Median and Mode is worth 1 point each, and the correlation coefficient is worth 3 points = 9 points) Please note, for all calculations, round to the nearest hundredths place (e.g. 11.42). If an answer is a whole number or only carried out to the tenths place (e.g. 2.4), then leave as is. Not rounding appropriately will result in a loss of 1 point. Hours Studied GPA Mean 6.9 3.35 Median 7 3.6 Mode 7 3.8 Correlation Coefficient ( r ) 1 Part B. What is the direction of the correlation coefficient you found in #4? (2 points) The direction of the correlation coefficient is positive. Part C. What is the strength of the correlation coefficient that you found in #4? (2 points) The strength of the correlation coefficient is strong. Bonus Question (Worth 5 points) 1. Share something with me that you did in the last couple of weeks for yourself in an effort to promote your physical and/or mental health 😊 In the past couple of weeks, I’ve been prioritizing myself a lot more than I usually do. I’ve been more aware of my eating habits, steps I take in a day, and my water intake. I’ve also been speaking to a therapist to heal from old trauma. Lastly, something I’ve been doing to promote physical and mental health is time managing. Time management
Exam 1: KHP 445 5 helps me be less anxious and allows me to plan out time to cook meals, and work out to maintain health.
