Questions: A.
What is the value of using pH paper as an indicator? (1 point) The values of using a pH paper as an indicator will help determine if a solution is a
weak or strong acid or a base.
B.
What is the value of using BTB as an indicator? When might BTB be a better choice than pH paper? (1 point) When figuring out the BTB pH value, blue is the base and yellow is acidic. BTB will be a better choice than pH paper when an individual is identifying if a chemical is a base or acid.
C.

A.
Visually analyze the wells in the plate. What information can be gleaned from each well based on the color of the BTB indicator after each reaction has occurred? How do you know if neutralization has occurred? Cite examples from the well plate reactions to support your answer. (1 point)

After analyzing the wells in the plate, I witnessed the BTB reacting with the chemical via color change which how I found out I was analyzing neutralization. The most. Effective way to use the
pH testing. Strips to determine the pH level to witness if neutralization occurred during the process.
B.
What factors determine if neutralization occurs during an acid-base reaction? (1 point)
Neutralization occurs when an acid and a base has a reaction to form water
and a salt. The factors involve H+ and OH- ions to generate water.
C.
In all the chemical reaction performed in Exercise 2, neutralization occurs when the pH is neutral (7) or basic (>7). Did any of the reaction not result in a color change of the BTB indicator from yellow (acid) to blue (base)? Explain why neutralization may not have occurred in one or more reactions. (1 points)
Yes, it caused the chemical reaction to be neutral due to chemicals such as acidic and alkaline. It also did not blend accordingly because it was a weak acid.
D. Write chemical equation for neutralization of sulfuric acid with KOH. (1 points)
H 2SO4 + 2KOH> K2SO4 +. 2H20?

To complete the lab report, please answer the following questions.
1. Another way of testing for pH is to use pH paper. The pH paper is coated with a chemical that changes colors when
immersed into the sample being tested. The color of the paper is then compared against a color chart that shows
the colors associated with the different pH values. State one disadvantage of using pH paper instead of a pH meter.
Answer:
2. The pH scale is a logarithmic scale. This means that the difference between each pH unit is really a factor of ten (in
terms of actual magnitude of the acidity or basicity of the substance). If the pH of grapefruit juice is 3 (pH = 3), and
the pH of beer is 5 (pH = 5), how many times more acidic is grapefruit juice than beer?

Chemistry. The pH of a solution is a measure of the molar concentration of hydrogen
ions, H* in moles per liter, in the solution, which means that it is a measure of the acidity
or basicity of the solution.
The letters pH stand for "power of hydrogen", and the numerical value as defined as
pH =
Very acid corresponds to pH values near 1,
Neutral corresponds to a pH near 7 (pure water), and
Very basic corresponds to values near 14.
