Hiring Request Form Please complete all sections of this form to formally submit your hiring request. The information provided will help the vice president better understand the purpose and value of the proposed positions. Section Response Historical Context: Please describe a few key events in the field of communication and how these events have impacted current business practices. This will help the vice president better understand the current state of your department. Over the years our means of communication have changed, and so have our business practices. Print advertising is bypassed by digital advertising, customer feedback comes faster and there is no longer guessing what the customer wants and needs. The release of the internet to the public in the 1990s changed how businesses connect with customers, advertise their products, and even how transactions are completed (Ring, 2023). In the 2000s businesses received another boost in how they reached households with the invention of social media. Personalized, direct-to-customer advertising expanded the market and reshaped how traditional businesses approached communication with the public. Trends: Please describe current professional and social trends and technologies impacting the field of communication, and explain how each is improving or impeding communications. This will help the vice president better understand how the field is changing and how to assess the level of need. Emerging Careers: Please describe new and emerging career opportunities within the field of communication that have developed based on current trends and technologies. This will help the vice president understand the job climate for communications.
