2 Module Six Assignment Analysis of Content The Fiscal Year 2020 Review report of Estee Lauder Companies Inc. provides a comprehensive and detailed overview of the company's performance during the Covid-19 pandemic. The report uses clear and concise language to highlight the company’s economic achievements during uncertain times, reassuring stakeholders about its products’ strength and outlook. The data used in this report includes 2020 Highlights, highlighting the best-selling products, Non- GAAP Information, Forward-Looking Statements, Graphs that show 5 Year CAGR Sales, Diluted Net Earnings Per Common Share, Net Sales by Product, and Region, and a Comparison of 5 Year Cumulative Total Returns. There are also options on the page to download the 2020 Form 10-K as well as review the latest news and Annual Reports. The words used in the report, such as “unwavering trust,” “loyalty,” and “compelling,” give a qualitative feel to some of the text and visuals used. The entire product line is the first thing you see when pulling up the report, with each product listed separately underneath, as you can scroll from one to the next. Below is the first text relating to these uncertain times and the company’s strength, followed by images of the Executive Chairman and President/CEO. These images can be clicked to lead you to each message. You can continue learning more about the “Hero Products” highlighted through photos on the page to show the best-selling products for 2020, Advanced Night Repair. Underneath, you can read more details about this product and click on other products and product lines highlighted in the text. There is even a section that allows you to scroll through beautiful pictures of product lines and see how each performed in 2020. The quantitative data and reports for various areas follow this section. All the visualizations help to convey a positive message about how well the company is doing, offer many links to click on and learn more about specific products and product lines, and are easy to use and understand. Analysis of Presentation The report is very well organized and easy to navigate. The introductory paragraph speaks to the uncertainty of the times yet the strength the company has retained. It is surprising, as one would not necessarily expect a cosmetic company to thrive in 2020. The report is divided into segments beginning with the year’s review, followed by messages from leadership, speaking to the successful products and product lines, and following up with outlook and data. I like how they used text and graphic links to supply additional information without having to clutter up the report page with too much text.
3 The images unrelated to the data offer more of a qualitative value. They are professionally done, beautiful, and clean and evoke a desire to use these products. Images of people give the report a more personal feel. Images are very effective in creating a sense for the report and connecting with the audience of high-end cosmetic users. In preparing a report, I will seek pictures that convey a feeling about my product to communicate with the audience. Overall, this report is easy to read, clean, and concise. The data is not just thrown at you in the beginning but is laid out at the end of the report for those wishing to see graphs for a visible review of what the report text has explained. The best quality of this report is how text and images were used together to make information easy to obtain. I strive to do that with my text, making it as user-friendly and easy to follow as possible. I will use the art of telling the story to improve my stakeholder report to connect with the audience, as did Estee Lauder.
