7-2 Final Project Two Submission: Journal on sport Management Edith Parker Southern New Hampshire University SPT- 200 Sport Business Instructor: Casey Coots December 10, 2023
I chose an article “4 Fundamental ways to Boost Employee” and Challenges Business Leaders Need To Be Prepared For In 2023 and Beyond”. Management and leadership are two different words but are very similar. To be able to have a great team you must be a good leader, when you are a great leader, you are not afraid to manage your team. I have always been taught in my management career that TEAM stands for: T ogether E veryone A chieves M ore. Dorie and Alexis write about boost your employees’ engagement, letting your employees know they are seen, heard, encouraged, and valued. Employees want to know they matter to their company. Since the pandemic employees have felt less important to their companies. This is where companies need to pay more attention to their workers and create a culture of belonging. With employees feeling heard, some employees don’t like to speak up at work and when they do, they are shut down (Clark, Redding, 2023). The reason this happens is that managers have issues with their egos. Employees that are made to feel unengaged will do less work and have a problem with productivity. Employees feel valued, and with all the extra work they put in they would like to feel appreciated. Let the employee feel valued by greeting them by name, asking about their weekend, and checking in on them once or twice a week. This will create a sense of loyalty to the company. Employees that feel encouraged on a day-to-day basis and help them in their future roles professionally. Helping them develop their skills for their future endeavors. Employees that feel a sense of belonging at work are less likely to quit, saving companies huge amounts of time and money by not having to train other people.
If you follow all these steps, you will have an employee that is loyal, they won’t quit, they will have great productivity and innovation. When working as a team, everyone works together to achieve that one goal. By managing your team all your employees get dealt their instruction of the job tasks, then everyone comes together and creates a synergy. While leading you are giving the correct instructions to get that job done. Letting your team know individually that they are doing a great job. If they have ideas, I want to listen to them. Personally, I like to encourage my people as much as I can. I want to empower my people to make the right decisions. By being a good leader, I can teach them how to go about doing things that are hindering their process. By managing them I can make sure that they are staying on target with their projects. Having different people from different cultures I can bring them together with their different perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds which can enrich the decision-making and problem- solving processes in the sports industry. It can also create creativity, innovation, and collaboration. System thinking can help to identify the factors that influence the performance, well-being, and development of athletes, coaches, teams, and organizations.
