Leslie Ramirez January 28, 2024 LEDU 358 Journal 1 Prayer Journal 1 After work, I dedicated thirty minutes daily to studying 1 Corinthians 13:1-7. I decided to commit to this prayer assignment for a full week to observe any changes in my thinking throughout my workdays and my interactions with children. In my first reading session, I read and absorbed everything that Corinthians was teaching me. I discovered that it proves that attitudes and deeds are how love is shown. You come to realize that understanding God is primarily about loving others. I took this understanding and went into my work week. I did my morning prayer of what I was grateful for and to have God teach me how to handle difficult children through my job. I approached my profession with an open mind and ears because I enjoy hearing the theories and conversations my third graders have regularly. My child was talking to a youngster who didn't have many friends and was being teased about something he did in class. I intervened to stop the impolite talks and made my class wait until we talked about this persistent problem. We reenacted circle time outside, so I had the class sit in a circle. We each said something we loved about ourselves as we circled the circle. After eliciting laughter from those who comprehended the assessment, I asked the kids to circle and share something they loved about the person sitting next to them. The children found this more difficult because they had to congratulate other students. I shared with them the lessons I was learning from my religion and asked them to realize that God is love and that when you love someone, you are appreciating something that God has made. These two actions are related to each other. I initiated the circle of praise until we reached the student without any friends. The individual who was going to comply
decided to list the mistakes that students made. "Why do I give him a compliment when he doesn't like any of us, he is lying to us when he gets in trouble," the student said as the class turned heated. I had to impart as much knowledge as I could to the students because they were getting impatient for responses. Since God is the most knowledgeable, I started with him. I explained to them that love is so much more than just accumulating wealth. I said that although our feelings are legitimate in this circumstance, we must all come to understand that harboring hatred for someone just fuels your resentment against the one who most damages you. God wants us, His children, to love others and choose to teach them. He wishes for us to realize that love is patient, loving, and devoid of pride, envy, and boasting. We are assaulting someone who needs to be taught how to love by loving them in the way we are responding to this person we are renting loving as God wants us to love. The kids gradually started to grasp the subject we were teaching. Instead of giving them AYA homework this week, I gave them this lesson. Over the week, I observed small changes in every student and how they showed their love to everyone in the class, including me. I overheard kids greeting the lonely child, asking him to sit next to them, sharing, and having discussions about God and what he would think of their deeds. I also learned through the children’s actions how to love the difficult child even when he is being difficult, I learned to understand he is growing and dealing with different changes, and thoughts. I can show struggling students more love through my actions and words, which helps me get to know them better and fosters a stronger teacher-student bond that gives them more reason to trust me with everything. My ability to love children comes naturally to me. I felt as though I became closer to every student as I learned more about their interests. I became familiar with their manner of speaking, their quirks, and their preferences when they are joyful, upset, or under stress. Even though I work with third graders who are becoming more and more like preteens, I should show
them my compassionate side and let them know that I am a part of their lives to guide and teach them through both the good and the bad. My weaknesses have decreased as a result of taking the time to get to know every one of my students. Students have a great deal of faith in me to support them through whatever problems they may have, find a solution, and learn something from each experience. One of the most selfless things a person can do in the world is to teach. The goal of teaching is to transfer knowledge to pupils while tailoring that knowledge to their individual needs and preferences. Everyone can enjoy great rewards from teaching once an educator achieves a balance between self-interest and self-gratification. Students gain from classes that cater to their requirements, and teachers develop themselves by learning how to adjust to unexpected situations. For example, when I was first starting as a preschool teacher, it took me some time to get the small group I wanted to have and the subjects I wanted to teach from the curriculum. I discovered that my teaching approach was self-serving during my teaching career. I had to learn how to change on the fly since I loved my students and wanted them to enjoy the curriculum just as much as I did. I started paying attention to what my students needed to learn, learning new teaching techniques to support each kid, and altering my communication style to support each student. My daily routine became more joyful and enjoyable, and most importantly, my students enjoyed being in my class. I've recently learned that I must develop the ability to treat the third graders in my new class as potential adults. Despite knowing the outcome, I should assist them with their ideas and provide comments when they speak out rather than dismissing them or asking questions.
