Task 1
Issue description
The supply chain in the UK and all around the world is very significant as the livelihoods of
the people like food, jobs and energy are entities dependent on the resilience and the
functioning of the global supply chain. However, it can be said that the uncertainty which is
created by the growth of the Covid-19 pandemic from region to region has also had a
significant impact on the supply chain.
Key operational issues
●
News 1
It has been witnessed in Europe that the labour party has massively avoided commenting on
Brexit since January, blaming lack of planning in the face of a large number of the shortages
of the EU nations in the employee workforce. Also, it had been witnessed that the chronic
labour shortage has led to a crisis in the chains of supply, influencing a very lengthening list
of products
(Guardian, 2022). The leaders of the industries have confirmed that the cliff edge
is caused by Brexit with an absence of the workers filling the gaps left in the haulage
industry.
●
News 2:
The United Kingdom has emerged from the pandemic of the Covid-19 to identify itself faced
amid the onslaught of the latest economic crisis which has left the nation in "a precarious
position", which is wanted by the experts. It has been witnessed that the comic reopening has
developed the same issues all around the globe, but economists argue that Brexit has
exacerbated these problems for Britain (
CNBC, 2022).
Causes of the issue
●
News1
The most significant cause to which the nations are facing the issues of supply chain crisis is
because of the massive amount of pressure that exists on the sector and there is a very
significant amount of chance that they could quickly reach the point of breaking. It shows the
establishment of the availability of the labour of the UK food and drink sector. It has been
witnessed that there are shortages that cover the entire length of the chain of supply from the
inputs at the beginning into farming through those which provide food and drink at the table.

The most significant reason that the nations are facing the problems is the perfect storm of
labour shortages, skyrocketing natural gas prices and the chain of global supply that has put
the nation in a prime position for a complicated winter. The rising requirements as the
economies reopen has developed the same issues around the globe. Economists say that
Brexit has exacerbated these problems in Britain.
Suggestions
The nations can develop a management centre for emergencies as during the scenarios of
crisis the organisations have to centralise the data and functions for the decision making.
Also, it has been witnessed that communication during the crisis is of massive importance as
it helps the various organisations to communicate and interact with the various stakeholders
like the consumers, media, analysts, suppliers and the community. Also, managing and
surviving a disruption in the supply chain means that the organisations would still have a set
of suppliers along with a steady flow of materials and parts (
Tien
et al.
2018)
.
Task 2
Question 1:
ALDI and similar stores offer different customer experiences. Do you think a
similar business model would work in other industries? Please give examples to illustrate
your answer.
Yes, a similar model would work in the various other industries as the current environment of
business has a lot of rivalry among the several competitors in the different industries. It is the
reason that the consumer is getting a large variety of options to purchase from. For example,
uploading brand food utilises these Strategies for that they can compete with various other
traditional brands by efficient inventory management and less investment in several outside
nations. It would help the organisation to remain profitable while also engrossing the
customers as all of their products would be the ones that are bestsellers and just not for the
sake of having a wide range of products (
Langlois, 2018)
.
Question 2:
What are the sacrifices customers have to make to have access to these shopping
experiences?
The consumers will have to sacrifice the stocking up of their clothes Limited accessibility.
The consumers will also have to sacrifice as they would not have a very vast range of
products to choose from.
