Running head: QUESTIONS 1 Questions Student’s Name Institution
QUESTIONS 2 1. “Discuss 3 SPECIFIC strategies that you learned after watching Ms. Toliver. (1 point each – total 3 points)” The first strategy I learned from Ms. Toliver's video that I would want to employ in my class is allowing the students to journal about their day. In most cases, students write what they have learned in class, which can be supported by asking questions and what they felt during the learning process. It is paramount if learners give feedback on what they think should be included or removed from our daily activities to help improve the teaching process. Ms. Toliver allowed her students to tell her what they understood comfortably, and they faced difficulties in learning. Another strategy from the video is to enable students to collaborate or have small group discussions within a time frame. This means that students can learn how to solve a problem or concept in a set time. Using a time frame helps learners think quickly and efficiently to respond to the question as a group to get an answer. The last strategy I learned from the video is to catch your student's attention without speaking to them or making any noise. Ms. Tolliver's instructional control was successful in her lessons, and all her students enjoyed learning mathematics without difficulties. 2. “Why were they significant to you? (1 point each – total 3 points)” As shown by Ms. Tolliver, the journaling of students is essential to me because it helps me appreciate how my students express themselves and find ways to help those with challenges. All students should be comfortable interacting with the teacher without feeling intimidated in front of their peers. Allowing students to collaborate or discuss in small groups in a set time frame is essential to me because it will enable learners to tow work with others and manage their time well. The use of hand signals is significant to me because it helps control the classroom without making any sound. I want my students to feel comfortable in my class as they respect me by
QUESTIONS 3 listening, making contributions, and asking questions without fear. Therefore, these teaching strategies are significant to me as they will help improve my classroom environment and make learners eager to learn and ask questions. 3. “Discuss 3 SPECIFIC strategies/recommendations that you learned after watching Harry Wong's video. (1 point each – total 3 points)” The first strategy I learned from Dr. Harry Wong is to create a designated area for those absent from other lessons to help them catch up on what they missed. A teacher should create a folder, a bin, or a box for the student to pick up and drop any missed work for the teacher to look at. Another strategy I learned is how to respond to a student who is lost in a classroom procedure. Sometimes a student may be facing it hard in class, which may affect their concertation and the best way to address them is by asking them if they know the procedure and if they do not know, then inform them what to do. As a teacher, one must be firm and address the students boldly. The last strategy I learned was creating a solid signal that would not cause any distraction when trying to get the attention of the lost students. Robust instructional control and use of hand signals are essential as they will attract the attention of those students sitting far from the teacher. 4. “Discuss how Ms. Tolliver's strategies relate to Harry Wong's recommendations in his video. (1 point each – total 3 points)” Both Ms. Tolliver and Harry Wong used hand signals in their classroom as a strategy to get back the attention of their students. Both of them advocate for signaling the students without making any noise. The two teachers had strong instructional control over their students and did not allow any distractions in their classrooms. However, Dr. Wong does not use any other strategy as suggested by Ms. Tolliver, and he believes in a student working indecently and not in

QUESTIONS 4 groups. Ms. Tolliver's approach allows the students to move around as they consult each other, while on the other hand, Dr. Wong wants a silent classroom without any distractions. Therefore, the two teachers advocate for different teaching strategies but with the same goal of making their students understand the subject under discussion.
