FAML 360 Acquired Skills Skill 1: Problem solving skills 1. Have you developed this skill in a manner that it could be used in a personal and/or professional setting? Why or why not? I believe I have developed problem solving skills that can be used in both a professional and personal setting because it has allowed me to look for solutions that may not be necessary fit the mold and allows me to see things from different angles. 2. How might this skill help you succeed professionally? (for example, how would you be a benefit to prospective employers, self-employment, etc.) This skill has helped me professionally already. I am in the education field currently; this has helped me with working with children especially when issues arise with various educators who have specific issues that they do not know how to solve. 3. How do you intend to use this skill to build the Kingdom of God and/or strengthen your family and personal relationships? With this skill, I believe I can help people in various callings, especially in my current calling as the Young Women’s President in my branch where I am working with youth and will allow me to help them and help the branch council when various problems arise. Skill 2: Communication skills 1. Have you developed this skill in a manner that it could be used in a personal and/or professional setting? Why or why not? I have developed this skill as this has helped me as I work with others on a professional level. I have gained skills that have helped me enhance the skills needed to work whether I am communicating on paper or verbally. 2. How might this skill help you succeed professionally? (for example, how would you be a benefit to prospective employers, self-employment, etc.) This skill has helped me learn how to express myself verbally as I have worked with others professionally in the education and public health sectors. I have gained the ability to articulate my thoughts in a way where I am understood. This is something that I am having to constantly work on with a person with autism.

3. How do you intend to use this skill to build the Kingdom of God and/or strengthen your family and personal relationships? Through the development of this skill, I am able to communicate with others effectively within branch leadership or with my young women as I teach them. Skill 3: Analyzing Skills (identify an additional skill you feel you’ve begun to acquire as a part of this course) 1. How would you describe this skill? Analyzing is the ability to deconstruct information into smaller categories to draw conclusions and problem-solve. 2. Have you developed this skill in a manner that it could be used in a personal and/or professional setting? Why or why not? I use this in a professional setting all the time when writing reports and this class has allowed me to do this more effectively as I look at various case studies and other assignments. 3. How might this skill help you succeed professionally? (for example, how would you be a benefit to prospective employers, self-employment, etc.) This has helped me often because I do this all the time in my professional career as a curriculum developer as a analyze data and design curriculum and write reports. 4. How do you intend to use this skill to build the Kingdom of God and/or strengthen your family and personal relationships? I intend on using this skill when I am having to help problem-solve various issues with the branch council as I am currently serving as Young Women’s President. Additional Questions 1. What could have been done to better assist you in the development of these skills? Something that I could have done better is learn to analyze things even better when it comes to report writing and having to communicate in writing what I am analyzing as sometimes it takes a lot of thought for me. 2. Please describe in detail an experience (personal or professional) you have had where you have successfully applied or developed one or more of these skills. For example, have you used any of these skills to help you address a problem or conflict?

Every quarter, I have to write a report for work analyzing my goals regarding the progress I have made professionally. I have to include strengths and weaknesses and steps on how I intend to meet these goals through an action plan. This helps me professionally as I learn to analyze, and problem solve the various strengths and weaknesses that I have. This has helped me to see where I am lacking and where I can stride to improve.
