MBA-530 Milestone One: Leadership Skill Joanne Chandler August 17, 2024 The self-assessment leadership behavior that I scored the lowest on was, “Inspire a Shared Vision”. "Inspire a Shared Vision" is a leadership behavior that involves articulating a clear and compelling vision of the future that inspires and unites your team or organization. Leaders who excel in this area can help create a shared sense of purpose and direction and motivate people to work together towards their common goals. Improving in this area may involve developing stronger communication skills, practicing visionary thinking, and finding ways to communicate and motivate your team around a common purpose. The leader should be able to see beyond the present and imagine future possibilities. This should include setting long- term goals and imagining what success looks like for the team or organization in the future. “Leaders who “Inspire a Shared Vision” passionately believe that they can make a difference. They envision the future, creating an ideal and unique image of what the organization can become. Through their magnetism and quiet persuasion, leaders enlist others in their dreams. They breathe life into their visions and get people to see exciting possibilities for the future” (Issacs, 2023). Inspiring a shared Vision allows individuals to “buy into the culture” and future proof the
business. Moreover, this style also allows the manager to then pour into the employee making them comfortable to share their personal and professional visions as it relates to the overall vision of the company. As a manager, “You need to search for opportunities by seizing the initiative and by looking outward for innovative
ways to improve,” (Mugavin, 2021). Having the conversation with the employees on their personal and professional goals allows a manager to understand to invest in the employee which allows then allow the employee to take ownership within the company, as the best assets any

will allow the manager to understand how to invest in the employee and this will allow the employee to take ownership in the company. The best asset of any company is the people that works for the company. My highest leadership style which is Enabling Others to Act is the behavior of a confident leader. The leader must understand the strength of the employees on their team and believe in each of their employee’s potential (Clarity Leadership, 2018). When you are a leader, you must ensure each employee is in a position to succeed and reach their goal. My goal as a leader is to ensure my employee’s never fail and always have the tools to succeed when needed to enhance their skills for the positions. Each employee can learn and adapt in every situation, so they become successful. One way to build a professional network is the have the teams collaborate amongst themselves. Then the knowledge base will grow even while not taking on any additional learning. We can reach out to colleagues who have the experience and knowledge and utilize it for a better outcome. This leadership style becomes an effective leader and is well rooted in growing productive relationships towards the common goal. You should always have a group of people you can depend on and engage with whether it is professional or personal. A company will look at whether the professional has a loner attitude because that will have an adverse reaction on the company’s vision. When the leader has built trust with his/her employees it allows the employees to feel empowered and this will show who has the potential to be an actual leader. I have reviewed the Employee Satisfaction Survey for the last two years between the leadership and employees and identified both their strengths and weaknesses. What I see when reviewing the survey is that the leadership behavior that needs improvement would be “Inspire a Shared Vision”. This will help to build the trust needed within the team, assist with the needed
training and development goals and acknowledge the efforts needed to meet their goals. These are some of the lowest ranking questions on the Employee Satisfaction Survey. These are the areas that will make the employee feel comfortable in performing their duties and going the extra mile to ensure their duties are done to the best of their abilities. Employees will perform at a higher rate when they trust leadership and they share the same vision. When these areas are developed the employees will have the same goals as leadership and their focus will be to enhance the foundation of the company. Leadership behaviors that are currently successful in the organization will fall in line with leadership behavior defined in “Challenge the process”. Based on the Employee Satisfaction Survey, the relation between leadership and the team is unstable, and the company always strives to improve their client satisfaction and their customer satisfaction. Managing this area will help manage the relationships between leadership and their direct reports. They must create new and innovative ways to provide higher values for their stakeholders. Leadership must keep focus on customer satisfaction to enhance the performance between the organization and their direct reports. “The ‘Challenge the Process’ style of leadership behavior is known to assist the company with creative innovation by challenging existing processes” (Kouzes & Posner, 2017).
