1. Using the resources from this course, identify the key characteristics of each of the four lenses: social science, natural science, history, and humanities. Social science is key to building communities and keeping our world moving forward. It also helps push for government accountability by bringing everyone together to call them out in a way. History helps to learn from choices made by our government and others from around the world. It also helps give insight on different cultures other than our own. Humanities teaches students what matters to our society as a whole and helps us learn to decipher what actually matters to us as individuals. Natural science is to help discover what sets the rules for the natural world through scientific techniques. They help build a perspective followed by explanation of a person's own understanding. Learning to face different scenarios helps with everyday life. 2. Identify the types of evidence used when looking through each lens Different types of evidence used include photo documentation, government documents and previous research papers from others. Looking at experiments done previously. 3. Determine similarities and differences among the lenses, based on the characteristics you have identified. Social science and humanities studies all cultures, societies and humans from past and present. The way they differ is humanities is more subjective and the other is research and evidence based. Science focuses more on physical details of the world and sticks to research and observing. History can really only stick to the past but it gives insight on human life and growth.
Topic Proposal 4. Last, in preparation for your project, select a topic to work on from among the following three topics. Document what you know about the topic you select and what you want to know more about. o Voting rights I know that when voting first started it was unfortunately only white males who owned property that were allowed to vote. Then the slow moving laws were changed taking away qualifications needed to vote that not every citizen had at the time. Then finally in the 1920s the fight for women's rights broke through landing women the right to vote.
