Video games have been around for many years, Although in the beginning there were
many challenges that were faced based on the older technology, manufacturers never stopped
growing and expanding their products to perfection. In the beginning many of them did not last
very long and were not able to make a comeback, but there are some manufacturers such as
Sony, Nintendo, and Xbox that continued to expand and get better as the evolution of technology
became better and more advanced. Throughout the years many new games were released and
were very popular. According to History.com (2022), “The video game industry had a few
notable milestones in the late 1970s and early 1980s, including:
The release of the
Space Invaders
arcade game in 1978
The launch of Activision, the first third-party game developer (which develops software
without making consoles or arcade cabinets), in 1979
The introduction to the United States of Japan’s hugely popular
Pac-Man
Nintendo’s creation of
Donkey Kong
, which introduced the world to the character Mario
Microsoft’s release of its first
Flight
Simulator game (History, 2022)
These games and so many others have kept the gaming industry thriving, and as technology
continues to grow, the popularity of gaming has become one of the biggest multimillions dollar
industries for kids and adults too. The biggest gaming community is based on online gaming
with teens and adults, and in this year of 2022, the Sony PlayStation, and the Nintendo Switch
are at the top still coming out with new and improved gaming products.
