It is imperative that lear are aware of the policies written out on academic honesty and integrity when studying their program. Students have been engaging in immoral acts by violating academic inte policies for several years (Taylor & Bicak, 2019). Learners are required to follow the appropriate American Psychological Association guidelines and properly quote, paraphr and summarize. Citing sources correctly is vital in scholarly writing and one should kno how and when to cite credible sources. Plagiarism can occur intentionally and unintentionally, and learners are required to know what is considered plagiarism to hel prevent allegations in their field of study. Having strong morals in the academic world i key to academic success. When a learner violates an academic policy at their university there will be sanctions that are given to the students that can be a consequence anywhe from a student having a grade dropped, course dropped, writing a remediation paper, academic suspension, and even being dropped from one’s field of study. Plagiarism is ta seriously and there must be consequences that are set into place for the student so that can learn to understand the effects that plagiarism can leave on one’s future. Academic Honesty Capella University has two policies that are explained on academic honesty. Academic policy 3.01.01 states that “learners are expected to be the sole auth their work and to acknowledge the authorship of others’ work through proper citation a reference” (Capella University, 2020). It is imperative that learners are not representin ideas from fellow scholars as their original work. If ideas are being represented, approp citations must be included in their work. Maintaining a high level of academic honesty i important in one’s personal life, academic life, and in future careers. Future employers to hire individuals who maintain high academic integrity which helps build a solid foundation of trust from the beginning of employment. Having academic honesty will gi

Academic policy 4.02.02 states that “Capella University learners are expected to conduct themselves in a manne guided by respect, collegiality, honesty, and ethical behavior as part of their academic development” (Capella University, 2020). Having strong morals in academia will help b trust with academic professionals and it will help improve one’s sense of academic hone and integrity. Reviewing and understanding each academic policy is imperative to acad success and gaining respect from others. Each university will provide learners with resources on academic honesty and it will help avoid any allegations made to the learne Many learners believe that plagiarizing is not a serious issue in their education when no given information on the awareness of academic dishonesty (Moss et al., 2018). There a various factors that fall into why learners make the decision to have academic dishones such as their outlook on assignments and motivation levels to complete original work (Morris, 2018). American Psychological Association The American Psychological Association (APA) is primarily used in social sciences and it is a standard that includes specific formatting an citing. Formatting includes proper font and size, double spaced writing, appropriate headings, cover page, and bibliography. The American Psychological Association contai five ethical principles including “Beneficence and Nonmaleficence,” “Fidelity and Responsibility,” “Integrity,” “Justice,” and “Respect for people’s rights and dignity” (AP 2019, pp. 3-4). Academic Integrity is when one is having a strong morality academically giving credit to the original author by providing credible and reliable sources. “Psychologists seek to promote accuracy, honesty, and truthfulness in the science, teac and practice of steps to resolve the conflict consistent with the General Principles and Ethical Standards of the Ethics Code”. (APA, 2019, pp. 3-4). Creating citations and cred sources is an important part of the standard written out for the American Psychological Association. If the work that is being written is leading information to one’s research, o must cite the original author (APA, 2010, pp.169). When one is paraphrasing or summarizing different ideas from another scholar, there must be an in-text citation that giving credit to the original author. Plagiarism Plagiarism is when a learner is using other learners’ ideas and concepts and passing th work off as their original work. Plagiarism can come in many forms whether one is copy

Plagiarism can happen intentionally and unintentionally and therefore it i important for learners to be aware and knowledgeable of each form of plagiarism and t consequences that can occur. Many learners do not understand the concept of plagiaris and the consequences that can occur if caught plagiarizing (Tran et al., 2018). When cit sources, one must have in text citations when appropriate and learners are required to provide a bibliography of all scholarly sources that were used to help influence the writ research. With the advancement of technology, plagiarism has become more accessible whether a learner is buying free essays from a website or stealing quiz answers from different platforms such as course hero. Additionally, technological advancements have created an increase due to plagiarism becoming easier and more incidental (Yeung et a 2018). Plagiarism is a growing issue in post-secondary education and technology has increased the severity of the problem (Vehviläinen et al., 2018). Maintaining a high level of academic honesty and integrity means that learners will not make any efforts into taking information from fellow scholars whether that is on quizzes exams, essays, research proposals, etc. It is important for learners to have an ethical mindset in the world of academia so that it can be carried into other professional settin such as the workplace. Future employers for learners are going to want to hire individu that they can build a strong trust with. Abiding by the universities policies on academic honesty and integrity will bring successful outcomes for learners but if the policies are followed, learners can risk their entire futures academically and working in the field. Cost to Learners There will be a cost that comes from engaging in academic dishonesty having low morals on telling the truth and doing the right thing academically. In my spe case, I used several quotations verbatim from coursehero.com and the consequences th am facing includes writing a 10-12-page remediation paper with an extra section writte the cost to learners. There were two assignments from two different instructors that I plagiarized. I felt instant guilt after turning in my assignments and tried to tell my profe that I plagiarized before my assignment was even graded. I was preparing to do the sam efforts I made with that professor with my other professor, but the grade was already graded before I told the truth. Universities must give out sanctions on academic dishon to help reduce plagiarism and motivate students to do the right thing in their education (Strangfeld, 2019). If a learner can realize the mistake that they made with academic dishonesty from sanctions that are placed on students, it can motivate the learner to ch

The moral of the story is not to plagiarize because there be consequences that negatively affect the student. Academic dishonesty will be part of learners’ academic record and depending on the severity of the academic dishonesty, a student could be dropped from their field of study. It is not worth plagiarizing to ruin on academic future. I inspire all students to tell the truth and follow all the academic polic Academic Integrity Having academic integrity is when a learner can have strong morals doing the right thing by properly citing sources and using their own original ideas. Hav academic integrity is highly valued in academics and it is important for learners to add value to their field of study. One who maintains a high level of academic integrity is sho that they are an individual that others can trust and rely on. When one is not having academic integrity, it can negatively affect the individual and the institution. The individ could lose their entire education if policies are not followed and the institution can gain bad reputation for enrolling students that do not maintain high academic integrity. Maintaining high academic integrity is important for excellence in both teaching and learning. When learners engage in academic dishonesty, it will negatively impact the student and the university (Mahabeer & Pirtheepal, 2019). Academic integrity can be related to different levels including within the course room, university level, and person level. One who maintains high academic integrity will have more of an opportunity for personal growth in their research and academic writing. When learners are completing assignments in the course room, academic integrity shines through when they are prop citing all credible sources in their work. When one is citing all their sources in an assignment, it shows that the student has a strong morality within their academics and believe in doing the right thing when it comes to research and constructing assignment the university level, learners have high academic standards that need to be followed wi academic honesty and integrity. University work can become overwhelming for many students and this may lead to students violating policies on academic integrity. Faculty should make solid efforts into guiding their students in the right direction and to reduce amount of times that one plagiarizes. Based on previous research, it is found that havin more supports from faculty in one’s program reduces the chances of one to plagiarize (Tatum et al., 2018). When a student continues to have strong morals and properly cite the original authors, shows that the student can be trusted and is reliable. Students who maintain high ethic standards in their academics will likely continue to have high ethical standards in their professional careers. The opposite could be said about learners that follow unethical
SafeAssign Originality Report https://trainingcr3.capella.edu/webapps/mdb-sa-BBLEARN/originalityReport?course_id=_14185_1&paperId=3893181418&force=true[1/7/2021 5:09:06 PM] practices by having academic dishonesty and no integrity. This specific sort of behavior lead the learner to go into the professional world with likely not having ethical behavior the way that they complete their professional tasks at work. Learners violate academic policies intentionally and unintentionally. For students who violate academic policies on integrity, there could be several reasons whether that is th student didn’t have enough time in their life at the time to complete an assignment or t students who committed the academic dishonesty could have other external factors in t lives that bring them high levels of stress. Universities have high standards for academ honesty and integrity, and it gives the university a bad reputation when there are learn that are violating policies. Degrees are made to be awarded to students and scholars w work hard by telling the truth and producing their own original work. Achieving high standards in academic integrity will give the learner a peace of mind knowing that they graduated with honesty and strong morals. One is respected more when they follow academic policies and tell the truth when doing research and writing. Citing When a learner is citing information in their work, it is showing that the individual mad sure to give credit to the original author. It is so important to cite both primary and secondary sources when doing research. It is unfair for someone to commit theft of othe scholars work and then trying to pass it off as their own. This behavior will lead into consequences where the university will give out sanctions of discipline which could incl dropped grades, dropped courses, academic suspension, and even being dropped from field of study. It is important for the learner doing the research to properly cite their so and for the reader to accessibly review the sources that were incorporated into the pap When one cites their sources, it is lowering the chances of someone committing academ misconduct like plagiarism. Citations need to be both in text citations when quoting or paraphrasing and a bibliography of all used sources needs to be included at the end of a research paper. Plagiarism can be avoided with proper citations on credible sources an creating a bibliography of each scholarly source (Melath, 2019). There are several different components that must be included when citing sources inclu the author, title of the article, journal title, volume, issue, page numbers, year published online data base, and the date that the article was accessed. Citing sources will allow o become an improved researcher and by citing credible sources, the accuracy of the

When writing a research paper, it important factor for the reader to go back and look at the sources to compare research between each other. By citing sources, the reader can have access to comparable resea that has been researched previously by fellow scholars. If a learner desires to maintain high level of academic honesty and integrity, then they must properly cite all their sour when writing. There are various resources that learners can use to retrieve an originali report and avoid plagiarism (Joob & Wiwanitkit, 2018). Learners want to make sure tha their original work is authentic and that all sources are given credit because it makes th research become more credible. Quoting Quoting is when one is taking a quotation from a source and implementing it into their paper. It is important that quotes are properly cited in ones work to avoid plagiarism. W quoting from another source, it is important to use quotation marks for information tha implemented word for word. After the quotation marks of the quote, the proper citation needs to be included in the paper. The citation must include the author, year, and page number from where the information was coming from. If this information is not include the citation for the direct quote, then it could be marked as plagiarism which could be unavoidable. It’s important to use quotations in academic writing because it gives credi the authors direct words (Penn, 2020). Paraphrasing Paraphrasing is when a learner is turning a passage from another source into their own words. It is important for the writer to turn the information into their own authentic wa wording the passage without taking too much information from the passage (Shi et al., 2018). When one is paraphrasing, it is also important that the information is being cited the text. The citation must include the author, year, and page number. To avoid plagiar individuals must remember to give credit to any sources that they decide to paraphrase turn into their own wording. In a summary, there should be a couple of sentences that highlight the focal points of the information it is important to make sure that a summary does not go off track of the main point. Summaries also need to have proper citations that are done the right way. One must m sure that they are citing a summary to avoid committing any academic crimes. When writing a summary, one should do their absolute best to make strong connections betwe their own thoughts and the comparable research. Learners want to make sure that summaries are not too extensive. It is important to summarize in APA standards, howev one should try to talk about the main points in a clear and concise manner. When writin summaries, one should refrain from using personal opinions and stay focused on the purpose of the fellow scholars writing through using key points from the passage. Writi summary helps with gathering conceptual information in a shortened text (Alawaji, 202 Specific Changes I want to ensure that I improve my academic honesty and integrity to highest level possible. I understand the academic crime that I committed, and I have learned from this experience. I believe in the original work that I can create while takin courses at Capella University. When writing papers from this point forward, I will make sure that I am allowing myself enough time to collect the research that I need to be successful in each assignment. Additionally, I will make sure that I am properly citing a sources that I am using as an influence on my research. Something new that I would lik start doing for better organization is creating a list of every piece of literature that I reviewed for my research. I am not defined by this one mistake and this has been a wak call for myself. When attempting to locate scholarly journals, I will make sure that I am utilizing the lib through Capella University and following directions in all my assignments. This could b small detail such as making sure that the research is from the past three years. Moving forward, I want to make sure that I am using only peer-reviewed scholarly journals that relevant to my research that I will be conducting. I will also make sure to use the APA publication manual as a reference for different things such as citing, quoting, paraphra and summarizing. I find that many students struggle with citations including myself and want to make sure that I am being resourceful in the future to yield a successful resear paper.
