Provide a link to the news story and write a short summary of each side’s position. How do you think the controversy was impacted by each party's interpretation of this cultural work? 2. What do you see as the main value of humanities in defining ethics? 3. How do the humanities impact ethical issues in society today? The most recent documentary called “The Pope: Answers' ' released on Hulu was inspired by ten young adults who sought out to express their concerns over the generational issues people face daily. They asked questions that dealt with migration and immigrants but most importantly, sexuality, gender identity and the religious freedoms of those communities. In return, it was concluded that Pope Francis not only supports LGBTQ communities and their right to marry, he expects everyone he oversees to follow suit and treat LGBTQ Catholics like their “brothers and sisters” instead of “others”. This is a huge turning point for the LGBTQ community to be recognized in a positive manner and accepted by the church. On the latter side, there are Bishops and Cardinals among the church that still “violently oppose” same-sex unions going as far as to call it the devil's work. More specifically to certain countries like Poland and Sub Saharan Africa, there are government regulations on LGBTQ communities that prevent it through punishment, sometimes torture and death.

3 Despite the outrage against the community and their perspectives, the Pope expresses that “everyone is connected” even through all our differences. He expects to open up a new safe space for LGBTQ Catholics to follow their Lord's path still and be protected while doing so. Taking a very gentle and pastoral approach, he speaks very highly on welcoming the community to worship with them. With this rapid change in mindset and perspective, it opens up major doorways for people to evolve socially and religiously to move away from discrimination against differences and be more open and accepting of everyone. Through the production of this film, it gave a new insight into people in power and how their beliefs and values can impact a combination of communities. Influencing the way people in society shape their own perspectives and apply it to their everyday lives.
