Thesis Statement: Determination, teamwork, and adaptability all are key attributes needed to have success in school and outside of the classroom, resulting in a successful career, and I have practiced and developed these attributes. Determination is a vital leadership quality that is crucial in overcoming challenges. In my sophomore year of high school, I faced a challenging exam in my math class. I dedicated myself to a rigorous study schedule, spending countless hours reviewing the course material, and seeking help from my teacher and peers. The hours of hard work and determination paid off when I received my exam results, showcasing a significant improvement in my understanding of the subject. This experience taught me that determination is a key factor in achieving success and overcoming academic obstacles. Additionally, during my freshman year of high school, I encountered a challenging situation with my cheerleading team. Our team faced increased competition, tougher routines, and long hours of practice. At first, I felt overwhelmed and contemplated quitting, but I persisted. In addition to improving our performance, my teammates also helped foster a sense of camaraderie that made the experience very rewarding. Moreover, determination goes beyond academics and extracurriculars. Once, I was part of a five-member team assigned to work on a complex research project that demanded extensive data analysis and multiple research phases. Through unwavering determination and effective leadership, we completed the data analysis, presented our findings, and even published a research paper based on our work. In summary, determination is a crucial quality for school and a career because it empowers individuals to persist no matter what, helping them achieve their goals. Another critical leadership attribute is teamwork, which is a key driver of collaboration
and synergy. A good example of this was when I organized a surprise party for my father's 50th birthday. As the lead organizer, I was responsible for diligently overseeing every part of the celebration. This experience demonstrated the importance of collaboration in organizing a memorable event, where the joint efforts of family and friends proved critical in attaining our common goal. In a different setting, when working at Tim Hortons, our team encountered a difficult circumstance when the ice frappe machine broke down during a busy shift, causing employee discontent. Using my leadership talents, I stepped in to not only calm everyone down but also repair the equipment efficiently. This incident demonstrated how effective teamwork can turn a potentially chaotic situation into one that is well-organized and efficient. Furthermore, teamwork is important in academic contexts, particularly when working on projects with people from different backgrounds and cultures. During one such project, which had a team of three people with diverse learning styles. Issues such as competing priorities and communication styles arose. Nonetheless, we negotiated these hurdles and produced a product that was enriched by our various viewpoints. In essence, cooperation continues to be an important ability in both educational and professional settings, allowing individuals to collaborate effectively and harness the collective strengths of a group to achieve shared objectives. Adaptability, a critical leadership attribute, is a valuable tool for individuals who want to respond successfully to changing situations and obstacles. When I was faced with the issue of completing a project for which we lacked the necessary equipment, one example of flexibility appeared. As a result, I took it upon myself to assemble the necessary documents by pooling resources, yet it took longer than intended. This displayed a sense of leadership by proactively addressing the situation. Another example of flexibility was when I was tasked with training new
staff. Recognizing that each newbie had a unique learning style, I modified my leadership style by giving them the required tools and knowledge, allowing for a smooth integration. My ability to adapt my leadership style to their demands was critical to their success on the team. Furthermore, when I started my first job at the age of 15 in a fast-food restaurant, I had to quickly develop adaptability. During my first few weeks on the job, I made multiple errors, frequently getting orders wrong. Rather than allowing these errors to define me, I embraced adaptability by double-checking orders and always improving. This adaptability paid off when I started receiving remarks from happy clients, which gave me a sense of accomplishment. In conclusion, flexibility is a necessary skill for success in both academic and professional settings, allowing individuals to traverse a variety of situations. 1. Does your thesis statement reflect what you wrote about? Is it clear and specific? Yes, it is clear and specific as it relates to everything that was written in my essay. 2. Does it reveal your organizational approach? Yes 3. If you do not think your thesis needs revision, include an explanation as to why you do not need to revise it. In other words, prove that it reflects what you wrote about, that it is clear and specific, and that it reveals your organizational approach. I believe that I do not need to revise my thesis as it ties everything together that I discussed in my essay. It is clear and concise, it gets straight to the point, and reveals what the main idea of the essay is about.
