Lab 1 - Uncertainty Methods: I used the barometer and thermometer in this lab to record weather data. I also used the force sensor to record the weight of the lab as it was suspended in the air. The materials needed to complete this lab were: IOlab Force probe eyebolt Computer To complete the first part of this lab, I selected the barometer and thermometer on the IOlab application. I then recorded 10 seconds worth of data. For the second part of the lab, I screwed the eyebolt into the IOlab and lifted it into the air for about six seconds.
Results: Part 1 - Weather (Questions 1 and 2) Pressure: Temperature: The barometer was more accurate in terms of accuracy and precision. I determined the accuracy by installing a barometer app on my phone, and by using a thermometer in my room. I found that the barometer only had a difference of 0.2 kPa whereas the thermometer had a difference of 1.1 degrees. The barometer was also more precise based on the data I got from the IOlab. We can see that the barometer fluctuates a lot less than the thermometer, giving it a lower uncertainty.
Part 2 - Weight (Questions 3 and 4)

The net force, in this case, was negative because the force applied was in the negative y direction. Since the negative applied force was greater than the positive force of gravity pulling down on the IOlab, our net force is negative. Conclusion In the first part of this lab, I measured the weather conditions of the room using the pressure and temperature sensors on the IOlab. After recording my data, the pressure of the room was found to be kPa and the temperature was found to be °C. Some (99. 2±0. 1) (23. 8±0. 3) possible sources of uncertainty could be the air conditioning in my home, the humidity of the room, and the body heat from myself. This experiment could have been performed more accurately if I made sure my air conditioning was off, and if I set myself further away from the IOlab. In the second part of the lab, I was tasked with calculating the weight of the IOlab using the force sensor. After I was done with the calculations, I found that the weight of the IOlab was (203±5)g. One thing that could have caused uncertainty in this experiment was the shakiness of my hand. To make this experiment more accurate, I would suspend the IOlab from a stable platform to prevent any shaking.
