Summary Introduction

To analyze:

The structure and function of roots, stems, and leaves.

Introduction

Root is a structure of plant present underground. It has an epidermal covering which contains root hair. It has vascular bundles (xylem and phloem). The function of the root is to provide anchorage to plant, absorb water and minerals from the soil. Roots are nonphotosynthetic.

The stem is a structure present above the ground. It also has epidermis, but hairs are rare. It has vascular bundles (xylem and phloem). Photosynthesis can occur in some cells of the stem. The function of the stem is to provide support to plant.

Leaves are the green structures of plant present on the stem and its lateral branches. The function of leaves is to perform photosynthesis and allow the exchange of gases required by plants.
