Intersection operation on sets:
- • A set is an unordered collection of unique elements.
- • The set may contain different types of data; it can be numbers, characters, strings, and also class objects.
- • Intersection operation of two sets will return the common elements of the two sets.
- • Thus, if intersection is taken between“set1” and “set2”, then the common elements of “set1” and “set2” will produce the intersection set.
- • In Python “&” operator or “intersection()” method can be used to find the intersection of two sets.
Algorithm to create a set “set3” that contains only the common elements of sets “set1” and “set2” is as follows:
- • Use “set()” method to create the set “set1” by passing member elements list as an argument.
- ○ set1=set(memberList)
- • Use “set()” method to create the set “set2” by passing member elements list as argument.
- ○ set2=set(memberList)
- • Find the intersection of sets “set1” and “set2” using “intersection()” method and assign the resulting set to set variable “set3”.
- ○ set3=set1.intersection(set2)
