What are the two main forms of mechanical energy?
To explain: The two main forms of mechanical energy.
Answer to Problem 6A
Kinetic energy and potential energy
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
In physics, energy can be defined as the ability of any object in the universe to do work. It is a scalar and conserved quantity. It is not possible to destroy or create the energy but can be change from one form in to other forms of energy.
The macroscopic energy possessed by any matter in the universe is called a mechanical energy. It is the total of kinetic energy and potential energy possessed by the matter. The mechanical energy can be stated as the capacity of any matter to do work. It is possible to convert mechanical energy in to other forms of energy and also to obtain mechanical energy from other forms of energy by using suitable methods. The mechanical energy is conserved.
