Concept introduction:
Mitosis is a type of cell division, which results in the formation of two identical daughter cells. Mitosis (M phase) takes place after the interphase in the cell cycle. It only occurs in vegetative cells and the ploidy of the cells remains the same. So, it is also called the equational division.
