To explain: The reason that the horizontal gene transfer is more prevalent in single-celled organisms than in multicellular organisms.
Concept introduction: The movement of genetic material between unicellular organisms other than by the vertical transmission of genomes from parent to offspring is known as horizontal gene transfer. It is also known as lateral gene transfer. This kind of transfer is commonly seen in prokaryotic organisms. Through this, they are able to spread their antibiotic resistance very easily.
