Distinguish between a sister chromatid and a chromosome.
Given:
Both a sister chromatid and a chromosome are a part of the DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) structure.
Introduction:
A chromosome refers to a thread-like coiled composition, which comprises the genetic material of a species. A chromosome refers to the condensed form of a chromatin, which is produced by DNA and proteins known as histones. The sister chromatids are produced after the chromatin contracts at the time of metaphase.
These compositions are then attached together in the central area by a composition known as the centromere. It is essential to make sure that the chromatids cannot be regarded as sister unless and until they are combined together with the help of a centromere. At the time of the beginning of the cellular differentiation, the objective is to produce the cells, which possess the tendency to both functions and perform the process of reproduction. The chromatid is the composition, which makes sure that this procedure takes place accurately.
