Chapter 8, Problem 19SC
Summary Introduction
Interpretation:
If the statement, ‘Trabecular bone readily gives up its minerals whenever blood calcium needs replenishing’, true or false.
Introduction:
Trabecular bone is also known as spongy or cancellous bone. Spongy bone is a very porous structure and contains red bone marrow, where red blood cells are formed. There are two types of bones in human body. They are cortical bones and spongy bones (trabecular bones).
The porous nature of the trabecular bone gives honey comb appearance. It is highly vascularized and usually located at the ends of the long bones.
