Introduction:

Chemical synapses are specific junctions. Across these junctions, the cells pass signals to each other. These are a part of the nervous system, non-neuronal cells like muscles or glands. An electrical synapse is a mechanical and electrically conductive linkage. These are present between the two adjacent neurons. It is formed at a thin opening between the pre-neurons and the postsynaptic neurons. These gaps are known as a gap junction.
