Strain is represented by δ, thus, the formula for strain rate to be usedis:

Similarly, the rate of volume change is:

  Vt=limΔx0(v( x+Δx)Δtv(x)ΔtΔxΔt)  ........(2)

Here, x is the distance and v is the velocity of the element.
