Summary Introduction
The human genome consists of 46 chromosomes (23 pairs) and they contain genetic information. The gene is considered as a basic unit of the genetic information. The gene contains a stretch of DNA sequence and that code for a specific genetic characteristic. Alleles are known as different versions of a gene. In the diploid cell, two different alleles of a gene can present in a specific locus on the pair of homologous chromosomes.
