Plutonium is radioactive, toxic material which should be handled with maximum care. Eliminating the surplus plutonium will reduce the risk of making nuclear weapons by terrorists, because nearly eight kilogram of plutonium is sufficient for making atom bomb.

There are two methods adopted for managing the surplus plutonium. They are, using plutonium in the form oxide in nuclear power plant and burying the plutonium in deep repositories. Both methods have advantages and disadvantages.
