Chapter 7, Problem 36Q
Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

Various examples that show the chances of everyday exposure to radiation have to be examined and identified that whether they belong to nuclear or electromagnetic radiation.

Concept Introduction:

Electromagnetic radiations are waves of propagating electrical and magnetic fields and they carry energy. All different types of lights like microwave, infra-red, visible, ultraviolet, x-ray, gamma ray belongs to this category.

Nuclear radiations are radiations that emitted by nucleus during radioactive decay. It includes alpha, beta and gamma radiations.

A gamma radiation categorized either as electromagnetic radiation or nuclear radiation based on their source. If the gamma rays are emitted as a result of nuclear decay, then it is referred as nuclear radiation and if it is emitted from the distant galaxy then they are called electromagnetic radiation.
