The sphenoid bone is present in the middle of the skull. It located on the front side. The sphenoid bone has a shape like a butterfly or a bat. It articulates with frontal, ethmoid, parietal, zygomatic, temporal, vomer, palatine and the occipital bones. It helps in connecting the neurocranium to the skeleton of the face. It is the bone, which articulates with most of the bones of the skull.
