Concept Introduction:

A calorimeter is used to determine the heat change of a reaction by measuring the heat change of water. Calorimetry is also used for the determination of specific heat of a substance. The heat released by a reaction is absorbed by the water present in the calorimeter. The measurement of the temperature of the water is done using a thermometer to calculate the heat change of a reaction.
