The management forecasts the demand per day by car type as follows:
125 rentals for Economy cars, 55 rentals for Mid-size cars, and 40
rentals for Luxury cars. The vehicle capacity of each location is 100 cars
in location A and 120 cars in location B.

If a unit is produced and shipped during period 1, it can still be used to meet a period 2 demand, but a holding cost of $13 per unit in inventory is assessed. At the end of period 1, at most six units may be held in inventory. Demands are as follows: period 1, 9; period 2, 11. Formulate an MCNFP that can be use to minimize the cost of meeting all demands on time. Draw the network and determine the net outflow at each node, the arc capacities and shipping costs.
A fertilizer manufacturer has to fulfill supply contracts to its two main customers (650 tons to Customer A and 800 tons to Customer B). It can meet this demand by shipping existing inventory from any of its three warehouses. Warehouse 1

- Seas Beginning sells clothing by mail order. An important question is when to strike a customer from the companys mailing list. At present, the company strikes a customer from its mailing list if a customer fails to order from six consecutive catalogs. The company wants to know whether striking a customer from its list after a customer fails to order from four consecutive catalogs results in a higher profit per customer. The following data are available: If a customer placed an order the last time she received a catalog, then there is a 20% chance she will order from the next catalog. If a customer last placed an order one catalog ago, there is a 16% chance she will order from the next catalog she receives. If a customer last placed an order two catalogs ago, there is a 12% chance she will order from the next catalog she receives. If a customer last placed an order three catalogs ago, there is an 8% chance she will order from the next catalog she receives. If a customer last placed an order four catalogs ago, there is a 4% chance she will order from the next catalog she receives. If a customer last placed an order five catalogs ago, there is a 2% chance she will order from the next catalog she receives. It costs 2 to send a catalog, and the average profit per order is 30. Assume a customer has just placed an order. To maximize expected profit per customer, would Seas Beginning make more money canceling such a customer after six nonorders or four nonorders?arrow_forwardHMO has 40 doctors to be apportioned among four clinics. - Long-Life Insurance has developed a linear model that it uses to determine the amount of term life Insurance a family of four should have, based on the current age of the head of the household. The equation is: y=150 -0.10x where y= Insurance needed ($000) x = Current age of head of household b. The general manager has forecast that Trips Logistics will need to handle a demand of 100,000 units for each of the next three years. Historically, Trips Logistics has required 1,000 square feet of warehouse space for every 1,000 units of demand. For the purposes of this discussion, the only cost Trips Logistics faces is the cost for the warehouse. Trips Logistics receives revenue of $1.22 for each unit of demand. The general manager must decide whether to sign a three-year lease or obtain warehousing space on the spot market each year. The three-year lease will cost $1 per square foot per year, and the spot market rate is expected to be $1.20 per square foot per year for each of the three years. Trips Logistics has a discount rate of k = 0.1.arrow_forward

- Solve this theoretically not on excel please .: A refiner in city Q serves four customers near city W and maintains consignment inventory (owned by the refiner) at each location. Currently, the refiner uses TL (truckload) transportation to deliver separately to each customer. Each truck costs $(740) plus $(309) per stop. The refiner is considering aggregating deliveries to city W on a single truck. The demand of the first customer is 75 tons a year, the demand of the second customer is 30 tons per year, and the demand of the third and fourth customers is 10 tons per year. The product cost is $8,000 per ton, and it uses a holding cost of (24)%. The truck capacity is 20 tons. a. What is the optimal delivery policy to each customer if the refiner ships separately to each of them? What is the annual total inventory-related cost? b. Your company has two trucks that it wishes to use on a specific contract. One is a new truck the company is making payments on, and one is an old truck that is fully paid for. The new truck’s costs per mile are as follows: 54₵ (fuel/additives), 24₵ (truck payments), 36₵ (driver), 12₵ (repairs), and 1₵ (misc.). The old truck’s costs are 60₵ (fuel/additives), 0₵ (truck payments), 32₵ (rookie driver), 24₵ (repairs), and 1₵ (misc.). The company knows that truck breakdowns lose customers, so it has capped estimated repair costs at $14,000.
