Summary Introduction

The cell cycle is an important mechanism used to increase the cell number while maintaining genetic stability of cells. Cell cycle plays a crucial role in growth as well as regeneration. This mechanism should be tightly regulated by cell cycle control to circumvent dire consequences. The unregulated cell cycle may lead to cancer and that induce detrimental effects on the organism. However, infrequent or less divisions may result in inadequate cell growth and regeneration. Therefore, controlled mechanism of cell cycle is important for survival of the organism. Cell cycle checkpoints control each stage of the cell cycle.
