To Choose: The correct option.
Answer to Problem 6STP
Option C
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
Induction is the process of charging a body without bringing it in contact with a charged body.
Since like charges repel, when a negatively charged body, that has an excess of electrons is brought close to a neutral object, the electrons on the charged body repel the electrons on the surface of the neutral body. The electrons move away from the surface near the charged body, making that area positively charged. Since there is no transfer of charge involved, the positive and the negative charge remain equal.
Conclusion:
The net charge does not change.
