Interpretation: Venus is similar to Earth in size and distance from the sun but has an atmosphere inhospitable for human life that consists of $96.5\%{\text{CO}}_{\text{2}}$ and $3.5\%{\text{N}}_{\text{2}}$ by mass. The mass and surface area of the Venus atmosphere is $4.8\times {10}^{20}\text{kg}$ and $4.6\times {10}^{14}{\text{m}}^2$. The atmospheric pressure on Venus and its atmospheric pressure are higher than Earth is to be determined.

Concept introduction: The ratio of force per unit area of an object is defined as pressure. The formula to calculate pressure is,

$P=\frac{F}{A}$

Force is defined as product of mass and the acceleration caused by the gravitational force. The formula to calculate force is,

$F=ma$
