Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation : An expression for $\Delta G_{mixing}$ should be written. At what value of x the magnitude of $\Delta G_{mixing}$ have its minimum value should be determined and $\Delta G_{mixing}$ should be calculated for this value.

Concept Introduction :

The value of $\Delta G_{mixing}$ can be calculated as follows:

  $\Delta G_{mixing}=nRT{\displaystyle \sum _i{x}_i\ln x_i}$

Here,

  $\begin{array}{l}\Delta G_{mixing}\text{ - Gibbs free energy of mixing}\\ \text{n - number of moles}\\ \text{R - Universal gas constant}\\ \text{T - temperature}\\ x_i\text{ - mole fraction}\end{array}$
