Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation : The value of $\Delta G_{mixing}$ and $\Delta S_{mixing}$ should be calculated.

Concept Introduction :

The value of change in Gibbs free energy mixing and change in entropy mixing can be calculated as follows:

  $\Delta G_{mixing}=nRT{\displaystyle \sum _i{x}_i\ln x_i}$

  $\Delta S_{mixing}=-nR{\displaystyle \sum _i{x}_i\ln x_i}$

Here,

n − number of moles

R − universal gas constant

T − temperature

  $x_i$ - mole fraction of species i
