Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Enzymes are the bio-catalysts that speed up a chemical reaction by lowering down activation energy. In simpler terms, for any chemical reaction to occur, the reactants must cross a energy barrier called as activation energy. The enzymes lower this energy barrier by providing an alternate path for the reaction to occur. The reaction occurring without an enzyme will have higher activation energy. Temperature plays a very important role in the functioning of these enzymes. The enzymes exhibit their maximum capability at certain temperatures called as optimum temperatures and if the temperature is increased to a larger extent, these enzymes get denatured and lowering the temperature too much, might inactivate the enzymes.
