The structure and function of periosteum.

Introduction:

A bone is lined by two types of covering, periosteum and endosteum. The endosteum covers the bone from inside, whereas a periosteum covers the bone form outside. The periosteum is a protective dense connective tissue layer covering the bone. It is present all over the bone except at the joints of the long bones.
