Concept explainers
The cut core. Suppose we have the red and blue disks as before. Now, however, on the red disk we cut out a small circle from the center. Thus, the red disk is cut into two pieces: a small disk and a disk with a hole. Is it possible to deform these two pieces and place them back on the blue disk in such a way that every red point is moved?
