Introduction:
The skin is composed of two primary tissue layers- the epidermis, and the dermis. The epidermis forms the skin's surface layer containing stratified epithelial squamous tissue. The many cell layers of the epidermis protect it from potential damage due to abrasion on the skin. It also reduces the loss of water from the skin. The epidermis lies in the dermis.
