Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

The composition of Cu-Zn alloy is nonuniform during freezing of a Cu-Zn alloy. If an alloy is heated to ${600}^0\text{C}$ for 3 h, the composition becomes uniform due to the diffusion of zinc. The temperature required if this homogenization treatment in performed for 30 minutes needs to be determined.

Fick's second law is represented as follows:

$\frac{c_s-c_x}{c_s-c_0}=erf(\frac{x}{2\sqrt{D_{T}t}})$

Here,

C_s = Constant concentration of diffusion atom.

C_x = Diffusion concentration of atom at location X

C_o = Initial concentration of diffusion of atom.

t = time required.

D = Diffusion coefficient.

X = Carbon diffuses in 'cm'.
