Chapter 5, Problem 5.69E
Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

The abilities of the following solids to dissolve in water: NaCl, AgNO3 and AgCl indicated by the observations of Figure 5.10 are to be stated. The observations observed when a few grams of solid AgCl were added into a test tube containing 3 mL of water and when the given experiment is repeated but with a few grams of NaNO3 instead of AgCl are to be stated.

Concept introduction:

The precipitation reaction refers to those reactions in which the formation of a solid substance takes place from a solution. The resulting solid is known as the precipitate when the reaction occurs in a liquid solution. The precipitant is the chemical that causes the formation of solid.

Are the products of the given reaction correct?  Why or why not?
The question below asks why the products shown are NOT the correct products.  I asked this already, and the person explained why those are the correct products, as opposed to what we would think should be the correct products.  That's the opposite of what the question was asking.  Why are they not the correct products? A reaction mechanism for how we arrive at the correct products is requested ("using key intermediates").  In other words, why is HCl added to the terminal alkene rather than the internal alkene?
My question is whether HI adds to both double bonds, and if it doesn't, why not?
