Concept Introduction:
Diastereomers are stereoisomers which are not mirror images of each other. Stereoisomers are two or more chiral centers that can be diastereomers if the configurations at some but not all chiral centers are different. The configuration of a chiral center can be changed by exchanging the positions of two of the four groups attached to it.
