Summary Introduction
Introduction:
The Montreal Protocol was designed to end the production of ozone depleting substances (ODS) to decrease their atmospheric concentration and to protect the ozone layer of the earth. It is an international agreement made in 1987 by the United Nations. The ozone layer prevents the harmful solar ultraviolet radiation, which causes skin cancer and cataracts, decreased agricultural productivity, and interruption of marine ecosystems.
