Introduction:

ELISA −Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay is the immuno assay used for detecting suspected antigens for specific antibodies or for detecting suspected antibodies in a sample. Here the antigen is coated on to the well and the primary antibody is added. If there is specificity an antigen-antibody interaction takes place. Then another enzyme labelled secondary antibody is added to which the substrate specific to the enzyme is introduced. If there is enzyme substrate complex formation, then a coloured product is formed. The intensity of the colour change is directly proportional to the amount of antibodies present.
