Question
Chapter 4, Problem 71E
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation: The given table containing the missing entries of chemical symbol, group number, group name and metal or nonmetal is to be completed.
Concept Introduction:
The group number of an element can be determined from the periodic table.
The elements of groups 1, 2, and 13 to 15 are generally called main group elements. Group 1, 2, and 13 elements are nonmetals while elements belonging to group 14-18 are nonmetals.
Metals are those elements which can lose electrons while nonmetals are those elements which can gain electrons.
Metals are present at the extreme left side of the periodic table while nonmetals are present at the extreme right side of the periodic table.
