Chapter 4, Problem 4RC
Summary Introduction
To review:
The mode of action of the protein keratin, which affects the appearance and function of the integument.
Introduction:
Skin contains two main layers called as epidermis, which is the superficial epithelium and dermis. It is the underlying connective tissue. The epidermis is classified as a stratified squamous epithelium and it has four different cell types namely, Langerhans cells, keratinocytes, Merkel cells, and melanocytes. The keratinocytes are found abundantly. The epidermis has five layers namely, stratum granulosum, stratum corneum, stratum basale, stratum lucidum, and stratum spinosum.
