Program Explanation Explanation: The internet has made global communication easy and helped thousands of businesses to extend their reach beyond borders to become global competitors. The Internet and web allow employees to work together no matter where they are residing. The Internet is the world’s largest computer network . It is a collection of interconnected networks, all freely exchanging information. Working of internet and web- In figure below, we can see Host and Router. Host- the Internet transmits data from one computer (called a host) to another. Router- The message is sent through one or more routers to reach its destination. Data is sent in chunks called packets, each of which carries the addresses of its sender and its receiver along with other technical information. The set of conventions used to pass packets from one host to another is the IP. IP- Every computer which is connected to the internet has a unique address called as its IP address. This address helps the computers to send and receive data across networks. For example, we need the postal address of a person to send a letter, in the same way to send any data, in form of packets, we need IP address of the destination computer. IP stands for Internet Protocol. Internet addresses are in the form xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where xxx is a number from 0 - 255. This address is known as an IP address. The below figure illustrates how two computers connected to the Internet with IP address 1.2.3.4 and another computer with IP address 5.6.7.8. The Internet is represented as an abstract object in between. URL- URL stands for uniform resource locator (URL) that is defined as the address of a resource on the Internet. A URL refers to the location of a resource as well as to the protocol used to access it. For Example- http://www.tution.com When a user enters URL in browser, a HTTP command is sent to the Web server that directs it to fetch and provides the requested Web page. “www”- WORLD WIDE WEB: It is a collection of all the Web pages, online content including pictures and photos that can be accessed through a Web browser. “Tution.com” -It is the domain name that identifies the site of Internet host.
