In the extracellular matrix, cells are anchored to proteins. The cells in a tissue are also linked to each other. There are two different ways through which cells are linked, namely, by integral proteins and by cell junctions. There are three main types of cell junctions, namely, tight junction, desmosomes, and gap junctions.
