The amount of energy in the form of heat that is absorbed by the one mole of solid to transform into liquid is referred to as the enthalpy of fusion.  This is also referred as latent heat of fusion.  The enthalpy of fusion is represented by the symbol $\Delta H_{\text{fus}}°$.

Concept Introduction:

The amount of energy in the form of heat that is absorbed by the one mole of liquid to transform into a gas is referred to as the enthalpy of vaporization.  This is also known as latent heat of vaporization.  The enthalpy of vaporization is represented by the symbol $\Delta H_{\text{vap}}°$.
